Old corrugated container (OCC) pulping is the foundation of modern kraft linerboard production. Hydraulic Drum Pulper: High-Capacity Fiber Recovery

The hydraulic drum pulper handles 200 to 600 TPD with operating consistency of 4 to 6 percent. Its gentle pulping action preserves fiber length while effectively separating fibers from contaminants. Multi-stage screening with forward and reverse cleaners maximizes fiber recovery. The complete screening system achieves fiber loss below 2 percent.

Energy Optimization and Cost Savings

A well-designed OCC system operating at 400 TPD can save approximately 120,000 kWh per month compared to older batch systems. With electricity costs averaging 0.08 USD per kWh, this translates to annual savings of over 115,000 USD. Additional savings come from reduced fiber loss, lower maintenance requirements, and extended equipment life from proper contaminant removal upstream of refining equipment.

Maintenance Recommendations

Screen baskets should be inspected every 1,500 operating hours for slot wear. Pulper rotor and stator clearances require checking every 3,000 hours. Bearing lubrication intervals are 500 hours for high-load positions. Annual shutdown inspection should include complete basket replacement if slot width exceeds 0.05 mm from specification.
